Most of the lake has frozen overnight, and most of the birds have disappeared.
And this post has taken more time to do on this laptop, than I spent walking round the lake…..grrrrrrrr!
The computer doctor comes tomorrow; hope he’s got a magic wand!
But the lake. Well, I topped the seed up on the bridge, and then made my way round the south lake first. A lot of the water was frozen, and a lot of the ducks seem to have left, looking for some unfrozen water elsewhere. Who can blame them.
The highlight of the south lake was a handsome Buzzard, sat in a tree. No picture unfortunately; one look at me, and he was off.
A few Coots on the water that hadn’t frozen, and a few Mute Swans, and that was about it.
Back at the bridge, more seed, and some time spent watching the birds there.
Plenty of Reed Buntings, along with Chaffinch and Great Tits.
On round the north lake, and very much the same as the south; very few birds, and lots of ice. They’re certainly having a tough time again. The Heron was in his usual spot, under the foot bridge, and a few Black-headed Gulls standing around on the ice; and of course, the Mallards. They came looking for food, and found some.
Up by the weir, the Grey Wagtail was foraging,
searching out any insects that may be around, and a few Wigeon were out on the grass; until a dog set them off, and back to the safety of the water.
A slow walk back to the foot bridge once more, and a few more moments with the birds there, until the cold weather got the better of me, and I headed home.
