The mornings are getting lighter earlier too. Topping up the seed at the footbridge, and the feeders, seems to take longer these days; it’s certainly attracting plenty of birds. The Goldfinches love the nyger seed,
and the footbridge is becoming popular with a lot of birds.
Blackbirds, Chaffinch, Reed Buntings and the tits. When the sun shines, and there isn’t so many people about, it gives some excellent picture opportunities.
I walked the north lake first, and almost immediately got accosted by three Mallards. I quickly fed them, and carried on my way. The highlights were three female Goosander, swimming in the sunlight, and a Kingfisher, along the bank, by the bandstand.
The south lake yielded the regulars; Canada Geese, Tufted Duck, Wigeon and a single Little Grebe at the far end. As the morning wore on though, it got busier; joggers, dog walkers, cyclists, and people just out enjoying some rare sunshine. And the boats.
Back at the footbridge I topped up the seed again, took a few pictures, then made my way home.
The sun was short lived; it’s raining now.
